Hilton Grand Vacations Los Cabos Review: Rooms, Dining, Amenities & More

Hilton Grand Vacations Los Cabos Review – that’s what we’re sharing after spending three nights at La Pacifica, a beachfront resort just outside of San José del Cabo. As Hilton Club members, my husband and I enjoy exploring different Hilton properties to help others know what to expect before they book. Since we have never been to Los Cabos, this trip gave us the perfect opportunity to experience a new destination while checking out a highly rated resort in the Hilton Grand Vacations portfolio.

The Hilton Los Cabos lit up at night with palm trees, and loungers around the pool.

We traveled from the East Coast, connected through Dallas, and arrived after a long day of flights. Honestly, getting to Europe from our home on the East Coast is faster! So, we were especially curious to see if the resort was worth the effort. For travelers based on the West Coast, though, Los Cabos is an easy getaway.

Our goal with this review is to offer a first-hand look at the rooms, dining, amenities, and overall vibe at Hilton La Pacifica, so you can decide if it’s the right fit for your next vacation.

Hilton Grand Vacations Club Los Cabos Review

Our first impression of La Pacifica was a good one. After passing through a guarded entrance, we arrived at an open-air reception area that felt calm and breezy, even in the warm Los Cabos sun. The hallways throughout the property were also open-air, which added to the relaxed, coastal vibe.

The design features earth tones, local artwork, and tile floors that create a natural, upscale atmosphere. It’s worth noting that La Pacifica is located within the larger Hilton Los Cabos resort, giving guests access to shared amenities while still enjoying the exclusive feel of the vacation club.

Location Details

Hilton Grand Vacations Los Cabos is located along the Tourist Corridor, the stretch of coastline between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. The resort is about a 30-minute drive from the San José del Cabo (SJD) Airport, making it a convenient choice for travelers flying in.

We booked our transportation in advance through Gray Line, which was more affordable than the airport service offered by Hilton. After clearing customs, we walked straight outside – ignoring the many people trying to sell transportation – and went directly to the meeting point Gray Line had instructed.

We also arranged round-trip service for our return to the airport, which made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Once we arrived at the resort, the Hilton staff welcomed us warmly and made check-in quick and easy.  There was a separate reception desk for the Hilton Grand Vacations guests.

The Pros of Hilton Grand Vacations Los Cabos

Every resort has its strengths, and we always like to highlight what stood out in a positive way. These are the features and experiences at La Pacifica that impressed us and made our stay enjoyable.

Rooms

We stayed in a studio room with an ocean view, which had everything we needed for our comfortable three-night stay. The room featured a king-size bed, a sofa, a table with two chairs, and ample closet space with a safe and iron with board.

The bathroom was spacious, with a full bathtub, walk-in shower, separate toilet area, hairdryer, and a full set of Persea toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and a bar of soap.

Our small kitchenette was well-equipped with a microwave, toaster, tea kettle, coffee maker, dishes, utensils, two bottles of water (that were replenished each day) and a compact refrigerator. We also appreciated the modern touches, like an electronic wall-mounted button pad to control the shade over the sliding glass doors and a blackout shade for nighttime privacy.

Our favorite part was the private balcony with two chairs and a table, perfect for relaxing while taking in views of the sea and the Dolphin Pool below. The room was clean, well-designed, and just right for our short stay.

Service

The service at Hilton Grand Vacations Club La Pacifica Los Cabos was excellent across the board. From the restaurants and bars to the pool area and on-site shops, the staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. Their attentiveness stood out – every interaction felt genuine, and we were often asked if there was anything they could assist with.

The resort grounds and facilities were impeccably maintained. It’s clear the team takes great pride in keeping everything in pristine condition. Another plus: everyone we encountered spoke English, which made communication easy and stress-free.

Palm trees, grasses, and cacti are part of the pristine landscaping at Hilton Los Cabos.

The concierge service was especially helpful. Before our trip, I reached out via email to arrange a few restaurant reservations. They responded promptly and handled everything smoothly. I found that email was the best way to communicate with the property – when I tried calling, the phone often rang endlessly, and when someone finally answered, they seemed rushed and unwilling to assist. Stick with email for the best experience. Use this address to contact the concierge: enjoy.loscabos@hilton.com

Housekeeping for our room was very good. While they typically cleaned in the afternoon, there was one morning they arrived before 9 a.m. We asked them to return in 30 minutes, but they didn’t come back until much later in the day. In hindsight, I should have just let them in and gone out for a bit – lesson learned!

Pools & Beach

Hilton offers four heated pool areas, each designed to suit a different type of guest experience. The Infinity Pool is perfect for soaking in sea views, while the Serenity Pool is reserved for adults seeking a quieter, more relaxing environment. If you have children, you will appreciate the Dolphin Pool. Younger guests will love the Splash Zone, which features a fun slide for kids.

Each pool area is well-equipped with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, and clean towels are readily available nearby. You can also reserve private cabanas for a price. The entire pool deck is kept very clean and well maintained, making it a pleasant place to relax throughout the day.

The beach sits directly in front of the property.  It is home to the Enclave Beach Club, which offers lounge chairs, umbrellas, and attentive bar service. However, the beach itself is gravelly (coarse golden sand), making it a bit challenging for walking barefoot.

During our visit, the sea was especially rough, and swimming was restricted to a very small, designated area. Waves frequently crashed against the rock jetties, which made for dramatic views but confirmed that sea swimming here isn’t really an option. That said, there were lifeguards and security personnel stationed along the beach, ensuring guest safety.

If your vacation vision includes a swim in the sea, this location may not be ideal for that – but the stunning pools and beachside scenery certainly make up for it.

Dining

Guests at Hilton Grand Vacations Club La Pacifica have the option of purchasing an all-inclusive meal plan at check-in. During our visit, the cost was $190 per person, per night (3-night minimum), plus 16% local taxes and 15% service fees.

The plan includes three meals daily (starter, main, and dessert), along with select alcoholic beverages. However, some menu items are excluded and clearly marked. After reviewing the menus and considering our eating and drinking habits, we opted not to participate – but it may be a good option if you want to indulge.

We also found that most of the items that we ordered from the restaurants were excluded from the plan.  For example, at Mio Sushi and Raw Bar, the Ceviche Thai and Maguro Tataki were not part of the meal plan.

Restaurants & Bars

Hilton offers several on-site dining options, and we had the chance to try nearly all of them during our stay. The venues include Sotol Agave Bar, Vela Restaurant, Lena Grill, and Mio Sushi & Raw Bar (open for lunch only). Talavera Restaurant, which serves breakfast and dinner, was closed on Thursday evenings. We didn’t get to try it for dinner, but it’s the main spot for morning meals.

Overall, the food quality ranged from very good to excellent, with attentive service and beautiful oceanfront settings that made each meal feel special. We especially enjoyed the al fresco dining – there’s something wonderful about enjoying great food with a view of the sea.

Although we had read some complaints about meal and drink prices, we felt they were reasonable for a resort in a popular tourist area. In fact, prices were comparable to what you’d find at mid-to-upscale restaurants back home, and we felt we got solid value for the quality and service provided.

If you want to venture off-site you can explore restaurants in nearby San José del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas, but we chose to stay on-property and were glad we did.

For quick bites and coffee, Los Arcos Roasting Co became my go-to for almond croissants, while Dulce Coffee & Eatery offered a similar selection – including ice cream!

In short, we were very pleased with our dining experience and appreciated the variety and quality of options available without having to leave the resort.

Activities & Amenities

Hilton Grand Vacations Los Cabos offers a variety of amenities to enhance your stay. There’s a well-equipped fitness center with both indoor and outdoor workout areas, a full-service spa (which I didn’t personally visit), tennis courts, and a Kids Club to keep the kiddies entertained.

Although the property is sometimes referred to as Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort, it does not have its own golf course. However, the Cabo Real Golf Club – a scenic public course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. – is located just across the street. The concierge team can assist with booking a tee time if you’re interested in playing.

Nature lovers will appreciate the Whale Watching Terrace, where guests can relax and scan the horizon for marine life (we also did this from our balcony). When whales are spotted, staff ring a bell to alert everyone. From December through April, blue whales, gray whales, and humpbacks are commonly seen, with peak sightings between February and March. During our visit in late April, we saw a few whales offshore – likely mothers with calves – as well as dolphins and silver fish jumping out of the water. It was truly a highlight!

For more adventurous outings, Wild Canyon has a small shop right on the beach next to the Enclave Beach Club.

This independent operator offers a wide range of water and land-based activities including jet skiing, snorkeling, kayaking, ATV rides, camel rides, and zip lining. It’s a great option if you’re looking to explore beyond the resort area.

The Cons of Hilton Grand Vacations Los Cabos

While the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Los Cabos is a beautiful and well-maintained property ideal for relaxation, there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, if you’re someone who prefers more activity and engagement, you may find the resort a bit quiet. Aside from the pools and spa, there weren’t many hands-on activities or entertainment options available during our stay. The beach, although scenic, is difficult to walk due to gravel-like sand, and swimming in the sea is not an option due to rough surf and strong currents.

The property frequently hosts private and corporate events, which can affect your access to certain areas. For example, the Dolphin Pool was closed all day during our stay to accommodate a private party. On our first night, a corporate event with a loud (and not particularly good) live band made it hard to get the rest we needed after traveling.

Another thing to note is that there’s no clear separation between Hilton hotel guests and Hilton Grand Vacations Club owners – everyone shares the same amenities, with the only real distinction being access to the all-inclusive meal plan.

Finally, if you want to explore the surrounding area, you’ll need to arrange transportation. The resort is not within walking distance of shops, restaurants, or attractions, so getting into San José del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas requires a taxi, rideshare, or a rental car.

No, Hilton Los Cabos is not an all-inclusive resort. However, a meal plan option is available exclusively to Hilton Vacation Club members upon check-in, with a minimum stay of three nights required.

Can you swim in the sea at Hilton Los Cabos?

The Hilton Los Cabos does have a small cove that is swimmable if the conditions are right.  During our visit, the sea was very rough with a strong undertow, so access to the water was limited.

Is a visa needed to visit Los Cabos, Mexico?

Visas are not required for US citizens, but all visitors must have a valid passport and a Multiple Immigration Form (FMM) to enter Mexico.  You can complete the digital FMM online prior to your arrival in Los Cabos.

While on the airplane, you will also need to complete a Customs Form.  Your flight attendant will distribute the form and provide instructions.

What is Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV)?

Hilton Grand Vacations is a vacation ownership program that allows you to stay in Hilton resorts and properties worldwide.

Is it good for honeymoons or anniversaries?

Absolutely.  It is a good place to celebrate a special occasion.  I would also recommend the Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen.

Yes, I always recommend purchasing travel insurance. Whether you’re traveling within the U.S. or internationally, having coverage provides peace of mind in case of trip cancellations, delays, or emergencies. For international travel to Mexico, a comprehensive plan that includes medical coverage is especially important. Companies like VisitorsCoverage offer a range of policies to suit different needs and budgets.

Yes, Mexico uses the same two-prong (Type A) and 3 prong (Type B) as the USA and with a compatible voltage range.

Final Thoughts: Hilton Grand Vacations Los Cabos Review

Overall, Hilton Grand Vacations Club Los Cabos is a beautifully designed resort in a stunning oceanfront setting. The service is excellent, the food was consistently good to excellent, and the pool areas and grounds are immaculately maintained. We especially appreciated the peaceful vibe, al fresco dining, and the opportunity to see whales and dolphins right from the resort.

That said, there are some trade-offs. The beach isn’t swimmable, and there’s limited on-site activity beyond relaxing by the pool or booking off-property excursions. The resort hosts frequent private events that can impact access and noise levels, and its remote location means you’ll need a ride to explore nearby towns.

We were glad we visited Los Cabos and had the opportunity to experience this upscale property along the Sea of Cortez. Would we return? Probably not – not because it wasn’t a great experience, but because there are so many more destinations in the Hilton Grand Vacations Club portfolio to explore.

If you are seeking a relaxing beachside stay with top-notch service, La Pacifica delivers. Just be sure to weigh your vacation style and expectations before you go.
