1. Military Heritage Museum

The Military Heritage Museum in Punta Gorda offers a fascinating indoor experience, especially on a rainy day. When purchasing a ticket, consider signing up for a flight simulator lesson to enhance your visit (no extra cost). My dad, who is an Air Force veteran with macular degeneration, had a great time flying a 12 passenger Lockheed Electra even though he landed on the grass!

The flight simulator at the Military Heriatge Museum in Punta Gorda is fun to do on a rainy day in Florida.

Throughout the museum, retired military personnel are available to provide information and answer any questions you may have. This museum provides a unique opportunity to delve into military history from the Revolutionary War to the present day, making it an educational and engaging activity, especially when the weather keeps you indoors.

2. Topgolf

Topgolf offers a lively indoor activity where you can practice your long game when you cannot go to the golf course due to the inclement weather.  They have climate-controlled hitting bays allowing you to escape the rain and have fun with friends or family in a social game of golf.  You can use their complimentary golf clubs or bring your own.  It is best to book a hitting bay in advance.  Food and drinks can be ordered in the bay.

3. Railroad Museum of South Florida

A trip to the Railroad Museum of South Florida, located in Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers, is a fun way to explore the railroad world on rainy days. The 3,200 square foot museum features “S” and “G” scale model train layouts, offering a unique perspective on this mode of transportation.

4. Ave Maria Church

I have visited the Ave Maria Church numerous times with our out-of-town guests, and I still find it fascinating.  The architecture is impressive, and everything adorning the exterior and interior has a purpose.

You can take a self-guided tour; the brochure guide is in the vestibule as you enter the church on the left.  On Tuesdays, mid-January through the end of April, guided tours are provided from 1pm to 3pm free of charge.  Reservations are not required.

Self-guided tours are a great way to explore the interior of the Ave Maria Church.

The Ave Maria Church is in the center of the town, surrounded by shops and places to eat.  After your visit, you can do a little shopping or have a bite to eat. It is a great place for a day trip from downtown Naples.

5. Mother Teresa Museum

Across the street from the Ave Maria Church, is the Mother Teresa Museum.  This museum is worth a visit while in the town.  It provides a glimpse into her humanitarian endeavors, showcasing her dedication to helping others and her love of Jesus.

The Mother Teresa Museum is an ideal Naples Florida rainy day activity and you will learn about the life of Mother Teresa.

I recommend watching the 15-minute video about her life in Calcutta first, then walk around the museum to read her letters.  The relics, letters, and photos will give you insights into the compassionate and selfless nature of Mother Teresa’s mission.

The museum is free, but donations are accepted.

6. Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee

7. Revs Institute

If you love cars, then this is the place to be on a rainy day (or sunny!!) in Naples, Florida.  I have lived in the area for many years, and I finally visited the Revs Institute and was totally impressed with the collection – and I am not considered a car enthusiast.

The Revs Institute has over 120 cars on display from the Miles Collier collection.  One of the top Naples Florida rainy day activities.

The building houses over 120 cars from the Miles Collier collection and they are all operational (except for 1 or 2).  The Institute offers a comprehensive journey through the societal evolution of automotive history.  From vintage classics to iconic race cars, you will see a diverse array of meticulously preserved vehicles.

The collection showcases the beauty of automotive design.  And it provides a unique opportunity to appreciate the technological advancements that have shaped the automotive industry over the years.

The best way to visit the Institute is to take a docent-led tour.  Advanced reservations are required and plan to spend at least 3 hours here.

8. Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center

A visit to the Holocaust Museum is a poignant and educational experience. The museum features exhibits that chronicle the history of the Holocaust.  On display are artifacts, photographs, and personal accounts from local survivors in Southwest Florida that convey the human impact of this tragic period. You can explore the narratives of survivors, gaining a deeper understanding of the atrocities committed during World War II.

A short day trip from Naples, is the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center.

While docent-led tours are not strictly necessary, they can enhance the experience by providing context, additional information, and the opportunity for you to engage in meaningful discussions. Docents often share insights into the exhibits, offering a more comprehensive understanding of the historical events depicted.

9. Coastland Center

Indulging in retail therapy at the enclosed Coastland Center is another one of our Naples Florida rainy day activities. This shopping mall has over 120 stores and 20 food establishments, providing a perfect place to shop, dine, and escape the rain! 

The Food Court, along with various dining options are scattered throughout the mall.  My son works nearby in Naples, and periodically goes to the Food Court on his lunch break. The Coastland Center serves as a convenient and enjoyable destination for both shopping and dining in Naples when the weather decides not to cooperate.

10. Tin City Waterfront Shops

13. Seed to Table

Foodies will enjoy Seed to Table in North Naples. This market and eatery offer a farm-to-table experience, making it an excellent spot for a rainy day culinary adventure.

Seed to Table in Naples is more than a market, it is a culinary experience ideal for a rainy day activity.

This is the only market that I know of that has restaurants, food kiosks, wine tasting bars, beer bars, childcare facility, and live entertainment seven nights a week.  You can even walk around the market with a drink while you shop.

There is a wine tasting bar in Seed to Table and you can walk around the market with your drink.

Seed To Table posts the entertainment schedule on their website.  It is a very popular place so the parking lot can be challenging.  They do offer valet parking for free; tipping is encouraged.  This is one of the most unique Naples Florida rainy day activities.

Just down the road from us is Bonita Springs’ Flamingo Island Flea Market which features a decent array of over 600 vendors. Here you can explore a variety of shopping options, from unique crafts to vintage finds.
