Day 1: Arrival & First Taste of Paradise – Weekend in Naples

After arriving in Naples, check into your hotel and get settled. Most resorts have inviting pools, so it’s nice to unwind for a bit before heading out. It gives you a chance to shake off travel and slip into vacation mode.

Explore Downtown Naples

Once refreshed, make your way to 5th Avenue South, the heart of downtown. I love coming here in the afternoon for a cocktail at a sidewalk café, some light people-watching, and browsing boutiques and galleries.

Just a few blocks away, Third Street South has a more historic feel, with charming courtyards and a relaxed vibe. It’s the perfect place to stroll and soak up Old Naples charm.

Dinner & Sunset

As evening approaches, stay downtown for dinner. Campiello is one of my favorite Italian spots with wood-fired pizza and a lively atmosphere. For something a little more tropical, try Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar, which often has live music.

After dinner, head to the beach for sunset. It’s a tradition here, and no matter how many times I go, the sunset sky always takes my breath away.

Day 2: Nature, Water, and Naples Charm – Weekend in Naples

Naples is full of natural beauty, from lush gardens to sparkling waterways. Day 2 is all about exploring the outdoors and soaking up the local charm at a relaxed pace.

Morning in the Gardens

Start your day at the Naples Botanical Garden. I love walking through the themed gardens in the morning when it’s cooler and less crowded. It’s peaceful, colorful, and a nice balance to all the beach time.

If you’re traveling with younger family members, the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens is an exciting alternative. Here you can enjoy tropical gardens and get up close to the animals. Everyone will love the Primate Expedition Cruise around Lake Victoria to see the monkeys in action.

Lunch and Waterfront Fun

After the gardens, head to Tin City for a casual waterfront lunch. The historic buildings are filled with quirky shops, and I enjoy grabbing something to eat while watching the boats go by.

From here, you can also take a sightseeing boat tour. Cruising past Port Royal mansions, spotting dolphins, and feeling the Gulf breeze is always a highlight.

Here are some boat trips you may consider taking during your stay in Naples.

Evening Dining

For dinner, I recommend The Turtle Club, where you can sit on the sand and watch the sun dip into the Gulf. If you prefer something cozy, Blue Provence offers French cuisine with a romantic atmosphere. Both feel special, and both are local favorites.

Day 3: Adventure and Relaxation – Weekend in Naples

Today is your chance to mix a little adventure with some downtime. Whether you’re hunting seashells on a quiet island or lounging on the beach, it’s a memorable way to wrap up a weekend in Naples.

Morning Cruise to Keewaydin Island

On your last day, I suggest you take an eco-shelling cruise to Keewaydin Island. This is one of my favorite Naples outings. The boat ride is beautiful, and once you arrive, you’ll have time to explore the pristine beach and search for shells. It feels like a true escape from everyday life.

Farewell Dinner

Before heading home, I recommend The Dock at Crayton Cove. It’s casual, right on the water, and the seafood is always fresh. I love ending a weekend here – it feels like the perfect way to remember Naples.

Where to Stay in Naples, Florida

Naples offers a wide range of hotels, from beachfront resorts to boutique gems. Naples Grande Beach Resort and Edgewater Beach Hotel are perfect if you are looking for classic luxury right on the Gulf.

For something smaller and more personal, I love the Inn on Fifth. It’s in the heart of downtown, so you can walk to shops, galleries, and restaurants in minutes.

If you prefer something sleek and modern, the AC Hotel Naples 5th Avenue is stylish with a rooftop pool. Personally, when friends ask me where to stay, I suggest they choose based on whether they want to be on the sand or in the heart of town.

Local Tips for a Weekend in Naples, Florida

  • Best time to visit: Winter and spring bring perfect weather. Summer and fall are hotter, rainier, and quieter – but you’ll find better deals.
  • What to pack: Resort casual works almost everywhere. Don’t forget beachwear, sandals, and a light sweater or jacket for cooler evenings. Need help packing? Check out my article on how to travel with carry-on luggage and a personal item.
  • Getting around: A car makes it easy to explore beyond downtown. If you’re staying near 5th Avenue South or 3rd Street South, you can walk to shops, restaurants, and the beach.
  • Local insight: When spending time outdoors in Naples, it’s important to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen – the Florida sun can be strong even on cooler days. Make restaurant reservations in advance during the busy winter months, as popular spots tend to book up quickly. Most public beaches have paid meter parking, so keep a credit card handy and try to arrive early for the best spaces. I also recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and a refillable water bottle if you plan to be out exploring for the day.
